Medicare AEP - Annual Enrollment Period - Yearly October 15th thru December 7th to Choose a New Medicare Advantage or Part D Prescription Drug Plan for the upcoming year. Your New plan would start January 1st. The Medicare Year runs from Jan 1st thru Dec 31st each year. Medicare OEP - Open Enrollment Period - Yearly January 1st thru March 31st each year, if you’re enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can switch to a different Medicare Advantage Plan or switch to Original Medicare (and join a separate Medicare drug plan) once during this time.
